CT fogging of ischemic stroke - an important non-contrast CT brain phenomenon seen around the second week after a cerebral infarct whereby the infarcted area returns to a normal appearance. This is not due to resolution of the stroke, but is a transient return of brain tissue to normal density and volume. Ultimately however the area will progress towards encephalomalacia and lose volume becoming a chronic infarct.
